Welcome to the Iowa Simmental Association
A longtime supporter of the Simmental industry. The primary objective of the Iowa Simmental Association is the development and promotion of the Simmental breed of cattle in the state of Iowa. Not only does the Iowa Simmental Association support the industry within the state and for its members, but Iowa makes up the largest membership within the American Simmental Association. With Iowa being the fourth largest beef producing state nationwide, the beef industry in Iowa plays a major role in agriculture and the livelihood of many of our residents.
The Iowa Simmental Association isn’t just for adults. The Iowa Junior Simmental Association has always been showcased on the local, state and national level through its young exhibitors. Each year numerous young Simmental breeders attend events such as the Iowa Beef Expo, State Field Day, North Central Regional, the Junior National Classic and finish the summer at the Iowa State Fair. No matter if you are a large or small cattle breeder, the Iowa Simmental Association hopes to support its members in many facets of the beef industry.

~~~Field Day update on 5/28/2020 from ISA President Kenny Scott:
Iowa Simmental Association members,
Following Governor Reynold’s update on Tuesday, we will be holding our Iowa Simmental Field Day Show June 6th & 7th in Afton, IA, at the Union County Fairgrounds.
Cattle will arrive Saturday morning with check-in from 10am to 12 noon Saturday. We will still be accepting “on-site” entries as we have in previous years. All entry fees (pre-entry and on-site) will be paid when you come through check-in. Cattle will be stalled at your trailers, and tie outs are at your trailer as well. Please bring your own bedding, gates, etc. Generators are welcome and there will be some space in barn for fitting with electricity available. All rules other than those addressed in this post will remain the same as printed in the April ISA Newsletter. Please see the photo below for the schedule for next weekend.
There will not be food or drinks available at the fairgrounds on Saturday so please plan accordingly. Sunday morning there will be a grab n go breakfast and lunch, sponsored by the Long & Williams families.
As we want to have a successful show in a safe environment, we do ask that everyone be respectful as far as social distancing and do your best to follow the governor’s recommendations. It will be each individual/family’s decision if they choose to wear a mask. If you are feeling ill or think you may have a fever and/or cough, please stay home. If you have any questions, please reach out to any of the ISA Board members.
Kenny Scott, ISA President
